The Ghana Premier League side has officially been acquired by the former Ghana international, Kickgh.com has learnt.
Former Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has sold his club, Wa All Stars FC to a new owners led by ex-Black Stars defenders John Paintsil.
The new owners of the Wa based club led by John Paintsil have released a statement to debunk reports suggesting their outfit will not participate in the Normalization Committee Special Competition.
“Our attention has been drawn to a publication on some media outlets on the above subject [on the pulling out of the Normalization Committee Special Competition],” the statement reads.
“We wish to inform the footballing and general public that the said statement is false and should be treated as such”
“As you may all be aware, the former President of Wa All Stars was unfortunately banned by FIFA from engaging in any footballing activities. He had no option to sell his interest in the club to us”
“He [Kwesi Nyantakyi] accordingly agreed to sell all his interest in the club to the undersigned and his partners and they have taken steps to consummate the transaction and notify the relevant institutions accordingly to complete the transition from the old owner to the new owner.”
“We will in the course of time, outline the measures we will implement to ensure that the club becomes the best in only Ghana but in Africa”
“Please not that all correspondence to the club must be directed to the undersigned (John Paintsil)”
Paintsil featured for these club Berekum Arsenal, Liberty Professionals, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Hapoel Tel Aviv, West Ham United, Fulham, Leicester City, Santos and Maritzburg United during his football career.
He capped 89 times for the senior national team of Ghana.
Wa All Stars won the Ghana Premier League title during the 2016/17 season.
